At Model Standards we have always worked to one rule: assess the skin first, then decide what to do with it. That rule depends on knowing what actually works, and being honest about what doesn't.

So our sister training academy, MSTA, has built something we are genuinely proud of: Skinipedia, a free skincare encyclopedia covering nearly 100 treatments, ingredients, conditions and brands.

What makes it different

Every claim shows the study behind it, and every study is graded by how strong it actually is, so a brand's own marketing is never presented as a clinical trial. Where the evidence doesn't exist, the entry says so, including for treatments that are popular right now. And every entry is reviewed and signed by a named clinician.

It is written for skincare professionals, but every entry opens with a short plain-English summary. If you have ever wanted to understand a treatment properly before you book it, it is a good place to start.
